Engagement Photos in the Sand Dunes

Great Sand Dunes National Park Engagement Photos: Julie and I met in a Facebook photography group online and found out that we were both going to be at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in southern Colorado at the same time so we traded photography sessions! She and her husband, Anthony, are from New Mexico and they love adventure and travel as much as Jacob and I do. We met bright and early in the morning, before sunrise so we could get a head start climbing the sand dunes, before the morning light was the prettiest. None of us had been to the sand dunes before and we were all surprised at how small they seemed driving in, and then how big they were once we started climbing them! If you havenโ€™t been to this national park before, I strongly recommend that you check it off your list! The nice thing about taking photos was that we had plenty of breaks while climbing, to get some great shots, but to also catch our breath. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We had so much fun hanging out with these two lovebirds, getting to know them, playing in the sand, listening to Anthony play ukelele, watching the sun rise over the mountains, all while getting a little exercise. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh, I love these! You did such a great job making sand dunes bright and happy. Did you use a drone for the high up ones? They’re amazing!ReplyCancel

Thank you Jamie! No I didn’t, I was just on a higher dune!ReplyCancel

  • Very cool location. I love the photos walking on the peaks of the dunes! Itโ€™s always nice to photograph another photographer so you donโ€™t have to convince them to get up early for great light! ReplyCancel

These are such gorgeous and happy Sand Dunes photos! You are so right in that they don’t seem like they are that big at first and then you just keep climbing and climbing and climbing! Beautiful job! I love that you did an early morning session. The light looks so clean and bright.ReplyCancel

  • These engagement pictures at the sand dunes are awesome, what a fun adventurous photo shoot!  It really is amazing how many diverse landscapes Colorado has to offer.  So lucky that you were all not only able to be there at the same time and trade sessions, but also able to get your significant others up that early too, lol.  My favorite sand dune pictures are the ones in the middle with the stark contrast between the vibrant blue sky and the sand.  Great job! ReplyCancel
