Holy Ghost Catholic Church Ceremony + Magnolia Hotel Wedding Reception | Kristen & Ross

I’ve been looking forward to sharing Kristen and Ross’s downtown Denver wedding! These two got married at Holy Ghost Catholic Church and had their wedding reception at Magnolia Hotel.
How They Met
Like many modern-day love stories, Kristen and Ross connected via an online dating app. They first met in person July 2017 at City Star Brewing, in between Denver, where Ross lived, and Fort Collins, where Kristen lived. They immediately realized how much we had in common and decided to meet up again. However, the second date almost never happened! They decided to meet at Carter Lake Reservoir outside of Loveland. But they didn’t think about the fact that they would not have cell phone service once there. Not knowing where to meet or what car the other was in, they both drove around aimlessly. By some miracle, they did find each other and went on a hike, which has become one of their favorite things to do together.
After a few more dates involving breweries, football games, and hikes, they both knew the relationship was going somewhere. They started hanging out together almost every weekend; Ross fell in love with Kristen’s dog, Jack, and the rest is history!
How Ross Proposed
Both Kristen and Ross back to Notre Dame for football games every fall. 2019 was the first year they were finally going together. Ross had been planning for months to propose so that they could celebrate with siblings and friends after he popped the question at a place that means so much to both of them. There are two lakes on Notre Dame’s campus. One of them has a great view of the back of the golden dome. The original plan was to go for a walk around the lake and for Ross to propose there. However, weather was not on their side. It poured rain all afternoon and Ross quickly had to come up with a Plan B. He proposed on the porch of Main Building (the golden dome building) and their siblings were there to help capture the moment!
Their Denver Wedding
Ross and Kristen got married in Denver at the end of August. These two are one of the only couples that I got to photograph this year that stuck with their original wedding plan despite Covid. They had to reduce their guest list, but they were still able to get married at Holy Ghost Catholic Church and have their reception at Magnolia Hotel.
They started their day getting ready at Magnolia Hotel. Once ready, everyone headed to the church where Ross would see Kristen for the first time walking down the aisle. After their ceremony in the beautiful Holy Ghost church, we headed to City Park for some fun wedding party photos. Then it was time for their reception! There were hilarious and heartfelt toasts, cake cutting, lots of dancing, sunset photos on the roof, and their families surprised them with a Zoom call from their family and friends that couldn’t make it to the wedding!
Congratulations, Kristen and Ross!!! It was such an honor to capture your wedding day!
